Podlaskie Voivodeship has officially signed a cooperation agreement with Zakarpattia oblast of Ukraine. This document establishes a partnership covering the fields of education, culture, healthcare, industry, humanitarian aid and local government.
“4 million euros have been allocated for cooperation between our regions, for cooperation in the field of healthcare. Six students study Ukrainian at School No. 9, and Ukrainians also study at this school. We can provide assistance to the people of Ukraine so that a just peace can come to the people of Ukraine as soon as possible,” says Marshal of Podlaskie Voivodeship Lukasz Prokorym.
Roman Sarai, Chairman of Zakarpattia oblast Council, expressed gratitude to Poland for its support and noted that this agreement is of great importance for the entire Ukrainian people.
“Our only goal is a just world. The signing of this agreement is such a symbolic step of support for the entire Ukrainian people. If we feel your support, then we get confidence that we are doing everything right, we are standing up for democratic values. The Europeans are ready to welcome us into their common democratic, independent European family,” he said.
All participants of the meeting expressed hope for the early establishment of a just peace that would put an end to both the war in Ukraine and the problems of Podlaskie Voivodeship, which is economically losing out due to its difficult neighborhood with Belarus.
