The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland intends to publish instructions for “Belarusian business and Belarusians who want to start entrepreneurial activity”, as well as information on support options.
This was announced on January 9 in Warsaw at a meeting of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Pavel Latushka with Polish Minister Krzysztof Paszyk. The parties discussed “issues of Poland’s support for the Belarusian democratic community, business and Belarusians who have found refuge in this state.” Currently, more than 18,000 entrepreneurs and companies with Belarusian owners are registered in Poland.
How many Belarusians work in Poland?
More than 135,000 Belarusians officially work in Poland and fall under the social insurance system, MOST writes about this with reference to the Polish media.
In total, more than 1,191 million foreigners are currently registered with the Polish Social Insurance Administration (ZUS). Belarusians are the second largest among them. The first place belongs to Ukrainians: there are more than 788,000 of them in Poland. The third place is occupied by Georgians – 26.9 thousand people.
By the end of 2024, it was reported that over the past three years, more than 240,000 Belarusians had applied for a residence permit in Poland. Of these, 140,000 have already received such right. Compared to 2019, the number of our compatriots in Poland has increased more than five times.
