Poland is putting up an electronic barrier on the Bug River, which runs along the border with Belarus. The work is currently taking place on the territory of Wlodawa County, according to the Polish border guard service.
The river bank is being prepared for the construction of the barrier. The territory is cleared of trees and shrubs. Poles are placed on the prepared site, on which cameras and an electricity supply system will be placed.
It is planned to install 1,800 camera poles, 4,500 day and night cameras, as well as thermal imaging surveillance and special sensors on 172 kilometers of the border. The electronic barrier will be connected to the existing surveillance system abroad. The barrier monitoring center will be located in the city of Chelm.
The border guard service says that the barrier will cover the entire territory of the border river – without allowing dead zones.
This project is funded by the European Union.
