Political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut was declared an honorary citizen of Warsaw.
“In such a situation, when we cannot force the regime to release him, we can make sure that there is no silence around his case, so that there is a resonance, so that the Lukashenka regime cannot be calm and think that everyone has forgotten about such cases. We will stand up for Poczobut, for all prisoners of conscience in Belarus and will try to support their relatives and people who are fighting for their release,” said Polish politician Robert Tyszkiewicz.
Andrzej’s family were unable to attend the ceremony for security reasons.
As of August 1, 1,391 people were recognized as political prisoners in Belarus, the real number is much higher.
