The night of September 5 was very restless for residents of Homel and surrounding areas. Explosions were booming in the sky.
According to the monitoring channel “Belarusian Gayun”, several Russian shahed-type drones flew into the airspace of Belarus at about one o’clock in the night. At least two of them were shot down in the sky over Homel – a video of the remains engulfed in fire appeared on local public sites.
Soon, the crash site of one of the downed kamikaze drones, the Navabelitski district, was localized. That is, the downed drones were falling on the city. It is reported that not far from this place, the fire brigade extinguished the fire.
Extinguishing the fire about the downed drone was later confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
About half an hour after the information about the first downed shaheds appeared, the Ukrainian monitoring channel “Nikolaevski Vaniok” reported on the third drone that broke into the airspace of Belarus in the Khoyniki area.
In the morning, the Belarusian armed forces carried out activities in the vicinity of Homel to search for unexploded ordnance. Probably, we are talking about the missiles with which aviation shot down the “Shaheds”, according to the Belarusian Gayun.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus made its official comment. This comment in no way indicates the nationality of the downed drones.
