An important partnership agreement is signed in Podlaskie Voivodeship for the implementation of the project “Protection and restoration of biological and landscape diversity and ecosystem functions”.
The project, aimed at protecting the unique natural resources of the region, was signed by the Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the director of the Suwalski Landscape Park. This was announced by Marshal Lukasz Prokorym:
– Yes, 85% of the funds are from European funds for our regional program. This shows that European funds are not only changing our roads, our infrastructure, our cities, but also taking care of what is very valuable, namely the protection of our beautiful territory. There will be many actions that will be aimed at protecting nature.
Teresa Swierubska, Director of the Suwalski Landscape Park, emphasized the importance of the project:
– Suwalski Landscape Park, which is known primarily for its beautiful, diverse landscape, environments, and abundance of natural resources. We wanted to focus on active conservation related to environmental protection, species protection, and the creation of a gene bank. This is the mill building above the Black Hancha, where we will collect the seeds of the most valuable plant species.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a genetic bank of plants and fungi, as well as develop a biodiversity park on the territory of Bialystok University and strengthen the protection of natural objects on the territory of the Suwalski Landscape Park. The total budget of the program is 53 million zlotys, of which 85% will be covered by European funds.
