A scientific and practical conference entitled “The Belarusian language and linguistics: state, challenges, practical measures” is being held at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Bialystok from June 28 to 29.
In addition to theory issues, the organizers plan to establish the Institute of the Belarusian language as part of the Belarusian National Research University in exile. Everyone will be able to support the establishment of the institution.
“We are collecting signatures by the end of June, so everyone can leave their names under this letter. It is primarily aimed at representatives of the academic community. But I think many Belarusians somehow have the appropriate education that allows them to sign it. During the conference, we may continue to collect on the spot, or call for signing this open letter online,” said one of the organizers of the conference, philosopher Pavel Barkouski.
According to Pavel Barkouski, the conference of the Belarusian language and linguistics in Bialystok will become an important element of supporting science and founding a new educational institution for Belarusians.
