On November 5, at a meeting of the Sejmik of Podlaskie Voivodeship, it was decided to create a new and Permanent Сommission on National and Ethnic Minorities and make the necessary changes to the Charter of Podlaskie Voivodeship.
“Podlaskie voivodeship is special in Poland, as it has multicultural traditions. This is a value that should be given special attention, special preservation and support. Therefore, the need for the representation of such a commission is obvious,” said councilor Igor Lukaszuk.
The project of creating the 10th Sejmik commission was also supported by Marshal of Podlaskie voivodeship Lukasz Prokorym. “All these issues of national minorities are related to functioning and education. Therefore, we are interested in creating such a commission. And we will send the draft to the Council of Ministers. I think the changes in the Charter will be successful,” he said.
The decision to create the Permanent Commission on National and Ethnic Minorities was supported by 25 ordinary members of the Sejmik. One of them objected, and three abstained from voting. Another council did not participate in the vote.
