The Polish library called for an action of solidarity with Maryia Kalesnikava

The library and music library of the Institute of Musicology of the University of Warsaw called for music sheets to be sent to her colony as part of an action of solidarity with political prisoner Maryia Kalesnikava.

“She asked to send her notes “that can be played in her head,” the organizers of the action noted.

Maria Kolesnikova is a flutist. Back in 2021, her relatives tried to send her a musical instrument behind bars, but the jailers did not allow it.

“I was overwhelmed by a wave of love and joy after reading the letters. Someone sent Mozart’s sheet music in a letter, and it’s a super idea! You can send me notes “and they sound so cool in my head,” Kalesnikava wrote when letters from her still reached freedom.

The library and music library of the Institute of Musicology of the University of Warsaw called for joining the action of solidarity with the political prisoner and sending notes to the library of the colony.

“Maria wrote that she missed music and asked me to send her sheet music, because then she would be able to imagine them in her head. We know that Maria is not allowed to play the instrument, and neither parcels nor money can be donated. This gesture of solidarity matters,” the organizers wrote.
