The Polish Orthodox Church celebrates the centenary of autocephaly this year

In honor of the centenary of the autocephaly of the Polish Orthodox Church, a special exhibition was opened at the Suprasl Academy.

The exhibition “Culture. Science. Openness ” shows the figure of the first head of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Dionysius (Waledinski) and the history of Orthodoxy in modern Poland, says the author and curator of the exhibition Vitalis Michalczuk.

“Orthodoxy does not exist in order to be realized in a certain political ideology. It exists in order to create culture, liturgy, art, and through art and liturgy to go further, to shape social life. The art that permeates our whole life gives it a true meaning. Orthodoxy has acquired all these features that distinguish it, and this is the basis of our autocephaly,” said the curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition can be viewed in the exhibition hall named after Viktor Volkov (ul. Klasztorna 1, 16-030 Suprasl).
