There is a new Marshal’s adviser on minority affairs in Podlasie

Marshal of Podlaskie Voivodeship Lukasz Prokorym appointed a social adviser on national and ethnic minorities. It is Aleksander Wasyluk.

“I feel that I am appreciated, which means that not only me, but our entire community, the Podlasie Minority Forum, are appreciated. We are glad that Marshall sees the need for advice in this area. To be, in a sense, a translator of the needs of the people who run the voivodeship. I hope that our voice will be heard, and I hope that we will really be able to create something cool, something new. It needs to be developed,” Aleksander Wasyluk said.

Wasyluk’s appointment was welcomed by Professor Oleg Latyszonek, who was present at the solemn press conference.

“I have not known Aleksander Wasyluk since today. Our children went to the Belarusian kindergarten together and Aleksander Wasyluk greatly contributes to everything that is Belarusian. He has a broader view because, as a church figure, he also collaborated with other minorities. It will be very useful for our Belarusian minority, for all minorities in general,” the professor noted.

The newly appointed adviser was also welcomed by Jaroslaw Werdoni, Chairman of the Podlasie Minority Forum, Marek Masalski, Deputy President of Bialystok, Director of the Center for Belarusian Culture Anatol Wap and Chairman of the Committee on Education, Culture, Tourism and Sports Igor Lukaszuk.
