They want to create a regional airport in Bialystok

Podlaskie voivodeship remains a “white spot” in Poland, without having its own airport. For many years, work has been underway to create an airport in Bialystok Krywlany, but so far only a 1,350-meter launch strip has appeared, which does not allow large aircraft to be received here.

During a special press conference, Marshal of the Voivodeship Lukasz Prokorym spoke about the signing of an important mutual understanding:

– The City of Bialystok, represented by the mayor, the voivodeship, represented by me and Mrs. Marshal, and the Polskie Porty Lotnicze company have signed an agreement according to which they undertake to take actions aimed at creating a company to manage the Krywlany Airport in Bialystok.

The President of the City, Tadeusz Truskolaski, drew attention to the fact that the airport will be of exclusively regional importance:

– We here in Krywlany are not interested in building a large airport, if only because the airport is located in the city. If there were several dozen or dozens of flights a day, they would simply create inconvenience in terms of excessive noise and so on. This is the maximum, in my opinion, there will be three takeoffs, three landings, that is, six planes, so it will not disturb the peace of mind, and at the same time it will be possible to erase this white spot of aviation.

Truskolaski added, in 2026, a large hangar for airplanes for 55 million zlotys will appear. As for the question, if the first plane will take off from the airport on Bialystok Krywlany, there has been no specific answer to it.
