UN collects data on labor rights violations in Belarus

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights is preparing materials for a new report on the human rights situation in Belarus.

It will be presented at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in October 2025. This time, special attention will be paid to labor rights and the employment situation, according to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Telegram-channel.

The Special Rapporteur calls on human rights defenders, trade unions, the media, as well as those who have experienced violations or have relevant information, to share information by May 31, 2025. To do this, taking into account your cybersecurity, you can use the appropriate e-mail address provided on the Management’s website.

“The regime in Belarus uses labor as a tool of repression, from forced labor of political prisoners to economic pressure on citizens whose only “fault” is that they defended their rights. This UN report is another opportunity to draw attention to the crimes of the regime, to draw attention to current issues and help solve them,” said Leanid Marozau, Legal Adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
