The “Classic-Modern Orchestra” concert on Freedom Day was held for the first time in Bialystok

On March 25 the Podlaskie Philharmony hosted a solemn concert “Belarusian musical landscape: a story about freedom”. The main organizer is the Center of Belarusian Culture in Bialystok, for which such a concert was the first significant event in the Podlasie activity.

On the occasion of the concert, a special Belarusian-Polish symphony orchestra “Classic-Modern Orchestra” was created. It consists of professional musicians who had to leave Belarus and today play together in Warsaw under the name “Volny Arkiestr”.

The concert program includes musical masterpieces by such authors as Stanislaw Moniuszko, Antoni Henryk Radziwill, Konstanty Gorski, Jan Tarasiewicz, Mikalaj Szczahlou-Kulikowicz, Mikola Rawienski, Jauhen Hlebau, Uladzimir Soltan, Siarhei Lipen, Kanstancin Jaskou and others. The leitmotif of the event is the theme of love for the native land and loss, homesickness, historical drama of the fate of Belarusians and at the same time optimism, hope and aspiration for a better future. Belarusians of Podlasie and Belarusians-emigrants came to the building of the Podlasie Philharmony with such sentiments. The latter even wore Belarusian traditional outfits of their own manufacture.

Many guests noted the importance of classical accompaniment and performance on such a day. Anatol Vap, Acting director of the Center of Belarusian Culture, solemnly opened the concert and introduced the guests of the evening.

The appeal of the chairman of the BPR Rada, Ivonka Survilla, sounds “now is the time to forget the strife and try to survive, show solidarity and do everything despite the attempts of the regime to expose Belarus as an aggressor. We remember this and long live Belarus!”

The governor of Podlasie, Jacek Brzozowski, stressed the importance of the work of Belarusians of Podlasie and the Belarusian diaspora. Jacek Brzezowski noted the celebration of the day when the question of the historical strength of the Belarusian statehood arises against the background of crisis and war.
