The International Mother Language Day was celebrated in the Bialystok hub “Novaya Ziamlya”

About twenty people came to the hub “Novaya Ziamlia” in Bialystok on the evening of February 21 to write a dictation based on the work of Vasil Bykau and participate in a quiz on knowledge of Belarusian literature and songs. The event in Bialystok was organized by the local community of the Belarusian Language Society (TBM) revived in Poland.

Initially, the Belarusian Language Society was going to dictate on its own, but when the representative office for National Revival of the United Transitional Cabinet decided to take it under its patronage and use an excerpt from Vasil Bykau’s book “The Long Road Home”, TBM sheep joined the common cause. In Bialystok the text was voiced by journalist Kaciaryna Vadanosava.

For the editor-in-chief of the “Grodno.life” Aliaxey Shota’s life participation in dictation is a long and beautiful tradition: “I even brought my Grodno dictation forms with me, we made them on purpose. She is not in Grodno now for obvious reasons, but I decided to come with my form. It would have been the 15th in a row if it had been held further in Grodno. But on the other hand, it unites us regardless of where we are.”

After the dictation, divided into three teams, the participants of the event participated in a quiz, which was organized by a teenage club operating at the hub “Novaya Ziamlia”.
