In Belarus men of military age face a ban on traveling abroad

The initiative of the former BelPol security forces announced the preparation of special measures in the Republic of Belarus. BelPol notes that the authorities are “preparing to impose further restrictions on the rights and freedoms of citizens” of Belarus.

“According to information received from several reliable sources, the regime, hiding behind the interests of national security, is going to impose a ban on travel outside Belarus for all citizens subject to conscription for military service.”

In accordance with article 30 of the Law “On Military Duty and Military Service”, conscription is subject to male citizens aged 18 to 27 years old who are or are required to be on military registration and are not in reserve, BelPol recalls.

Taking into account the fact that two conscripts are announced in Belarus every year – spring and autumn, and conscription events last about four months, men of military age will be prohibited from leaving Belarus for eight months per year, BelPol claims.
