More than 300 members of the European Parliament signed postcards for Belarusian political prisoners

More than 300 members of the European Parliament have signed postcards for Belarusian political prisoners, the democratic leader of Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said on her page on the social network X.

Tsikhanouskaya wrote that she was “full of gratitude” to them and noted that such a “wonderful act of solidarity gives hope and energizes to fight this injustice.”

“People’s lives are at stake, and we cannot stop until everyone is released,” Tsikhanouskaya wrote.

The action of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners is taking place within the framework of the #EPstandsBYyou initiative on March 11-14 at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France).

Tsikhanouskaya noted that the resumption of this initiative was the result of her recent meeting with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, and expressed confidence that #EPstandsBYyou would encourage politicians across Europe to join the fight for the freedom of Belarusian political prisoners.

As of March 14 there are 1,412 people in Belarus who are recognized as political prisoners by the human rights community, but the real number of people subjected to political repression, including imprisonment, is much higher.
