Polish officials handed over the data of Belarusians under international protection to the Belarusian Embassy

Several cases have become known when Polish officials handed over to the Belarusian Embassy the data of Belarusians who received international protection.

According to Euroradio at the Center for Belarusian Solidarity (CBS), we are talking exclusively about Belarusians with the status of additional protection, not about refugees. It is said that the Polish state authorities did this, but not the Office for Foreigners. “This is more likely due to ignorance of the laws, mistakes of private officials,” the CBS said.

What kind of data was transmitted, the CBS cannot yet announce – they are waiting for answers from Belarusians who got into this situation.

Article 9 of the Law “On Granting Protection to Foreigners in the Territory of the Republic of Poland” states that personal data cannot be transferred or received from subjects in respect of whom there is a reasonable opinion of persecution or possible serious harm. For citizens of Belarus, such subjects are representatives of the Lukashenka regime, including employees of the embassy and consulate.
