More than 8000 women have been persecuted in Belarus since August 2020 for fighting for their socio-political rights and expressing their opinions.
According to human rights activists, 171 women political prisoners are currently being held in places of captivity in Belarus.
In connection with the protests against the current government and the war in Ukraine since 2020, at least 1,033 women have been sentenced. During this time, at least 321 women were convicted and released from prison.
