A new surge in attempts to break through the Belarusian-Polish border

About 700 cases of breakthrough of the Belarusian-Polish border were recorded from April 12 to 14.

During these days, the Polish Border Guard Service recorded 669 attempts to illegally cross the border from Belarus. In addition, the Polish side reported that nine migrants needed first aid.

Recently, we have heard less and less about the so-called “border assaults”, but they continue. No one declares a full-fledged crisis, as before, but the authorities of Latvia, Poland and Lithuania have repeatedly protected society about the fact that calmness at the border cannot be considered a fact and attempts to illegally cross the border will continue.

The Polish Border Guard Service also notes that migrants throw branches and stones at patrols and spray gas. One employee was injured. Over the past few days, since the beginning of April, six suspects of helping migrants have been detained.

Poland accounts for 84% of migration pressure, Latvia — 14%, Lithuania — 2%.

The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and the EU countries has been going on since the spring of 2021.
