A silent rally in memory of the raped Belarusian woman was held in Bialystok

About 30 people came to the central square of Bialystok, Kościuszko Square, on the evening of March 6 to hold a silent rally in memory of Belarusian Lisa, who was raped on the night of February 25 in the center of Warsaw, and then died in hospital.

Unlike the silent rallies that once took place in Belarus in 2011, and were accompanied by applause, the rally in Bialystok was absolutely without sounds. The people, totaling about 30 people, only stood in separate groups and talked quietly to each other near the monument to Jozef Pilsudski. The fact that the rally was taking place could only be guessed by the policemen standing nearby, who were warned about its holding, as well as by several candles lit at the foot of the monument against the background of a small sign with the words ”Stop raping”.

“We are against violence in any form,” Ms. Valeria, one of the organizers of the rally, told Radio Unet.

“You can’t stand aside when such things happen,” says Anton, the second organizer of the rally, a representative of the Ukrainian diaspora.
