An action was held in Bialystok to mark the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident

In Bialystok, in the Square of Free Belarus, under the walls of the Belarusian consulate, an action dedicated to the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident was held. The demonstrators also opposed Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

“New nuclear power plants with a Russian background are being planned and built in Belarus, which are by no means flawless in terms of reliability and safety. Russian nuclear weapons have turned to Belarus. Chernobyl is very close, neither geographically, nor chronologically, nor probabilistically,” the participants of the action say.

Belarusians came to the rally to show that they remember Chernobyl and its victims, and in no case do they want new victims in the 21st century and oppose Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.

Together with others, Eugeniusz Wappa, editor-in-chief of the Belarusian Radio Racja, spoke in front of an open microphone: “The national minority of Bialystok region helped those who suffered from Chernobyl with all their heart and with their own efforts, especially children. Belarus will live and overcome all the Chernobyl misfortunes!”
